General DTF
What is DTF & how does it work?
Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing is a modern way to create custom designs on clothing and a variety of other materials. Uploaded artwork gets printed onto special film using vibrant, high-quality ink. During the curing process, a hot-melt adhesive powder is applied to the printed image. The powder will only stick to inked areas of the film. Prints are cured using an oven dryer to ensure the adhesive powder bonds with the ink, resulting in a complete transfer that is ready to use.
When applying your DTF transfer, the heat and pressure from your heat press will reactivate the adhesive, allowing the print to transfer onto your chosen substrate. The results are bright, detailed, long-lasting prints that hold up well over time.

What is the difference between DTF, Dye Sublimation, and Screen Printing?
DTF printing offers more flexibility and ease than traditional methods like screen printing or sublimation. Unlike sublimation, which only works on polyester and light-colored fabrics, DTF transfers can be applied to nearly any smooth fabric types, including cotton, blends, and dark garments. Compared to screen printing, DTF does not require screens or setup fees, making it ideal for short runs and full-color, detailed artwork. Plus, DTF prints are soft to the touch, highly durable, and wash resistant.
Why use DTF Transfers?
DTF transfers deliver bright colors, sharp details, and impressive durability, making them a great choice for custom t-shirts, hoodies, bags, and many other items.
There are several practical advantages to using DTF transfers:
- No minimum order — you can print just one transfer if needed
- Works on nearly any fabric, including cotton, polyester, blends, canvas, and denim
- No weeding required, simply cut out and press your transfers
- Gang sheets let you fit multiple designs on one sheet, saving time and money
- Professional quality results without the hassle of traditional printing methods
What are your order minimums?
There are no minimum order requirements. You can order single DTF transfers, if that’s what you need. Whether you’re testing a design, creating something for personal use, or working on a small project, single-quantity orders are always welcome.
Whether you need a single transfer, or hundreds, we support creators of every size.

Artwork & File Prep
What file types should I use when uploading my artwork?
PDF files preferred; PNGs are also accepted. Print ready files must have a minimum resolution of 300 DPI with a transparent background. Files printed without a transparent background will have a white box behind the image, or behind the entire gang sheet – often ruining the prints. High resolution files with transparent backgrounds will yield the best transfers with crisp lines and bold colors.
Already have a print-ready file? Upload it here.
What is a vector graphic?
Vector graphics, such as .AI and .SVG, use mathematical equations to define shapes, lines and colors which allows for infinite scalability without losing quality.
What is a raster graphic?
A raster graphic, such as .JPEG, .PNG, or .TIFF, are composed of a grid of pixels, each with a specific color value. Since raster graphics are comprised of pixels, they can lose quality as they are resized because they retain a set number of pixels regardless of image size.
What is DPI?
DPI is a value that stands for the number of dots (or pixels) per square inch in a raster graphic. The higher the DPI, the more pixels per square inch, resulting in a higher quality image. For example, if an image is 300 DPI, each square inch of the image contains 300 pixels. Images with a higher DPI will retain a better image quality as the image is sized up.
What is CMYK?
CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (Black). This color model is based on the subtractive color theory, where colors are created by subtracting varying percentages of light absorbed by ink or toner. CMYK is the standard color mode for professional printing processes, such as offset printing and digital printing. We recommend designing in CMYK since our DTF gang sheet transfers are printed using CMYK + White.
What is RGB?
RGB stands for Red, Green, and Blue. This color model is based on the additive color theory, where colors are created by combining light at different intensities. RGB is primarily used for digital displays, such as computer monitors, smartphones, and TVs. Each pixel on a screen emits light in varying intensities of red, green, and blue, combining to produce a wide spectrum of colors.
Gang Sheets
What is a Gang Sheet?
Arrange (or “gang”) multiple images, logos, or text onto a single print file. This allows you to utilize all available space, lower print cost, and optimize material usage.
What is the Gang Sheet Builder?
The Builder is a design tool developed to assist with creating gang sheet files. You can upload individual image files (cropped close to the artwork), verify the print size and quantity for each image is correct, duplicate and resize images as needed, even add additional text. Our system automatically arranges your images into a cost effective, print-ready file. The gang sheet builder maximizes image arrangement, allowing you to efficiently print more artwork on a single run.
Can I have multiple designs and sizes on one gang sheet?
Yes, you can fit as many designs as you would like within the print area of the gang sheet.
Do you charge per color or per image?
No, our pricing is determined by gang sheet length. Our DTF transfers are printed up to 22 inches wide, to the length of your choosing. Pricing is based on linear inches, regardless of how many colors are used, or how many designs are printed.
Our smallest available prints are 22” x 12”. Prints ranging from 1 to 12 inches in length are charged a flat fee of $15. Print runs over 12” are charged a “per inch” price based on file length.
Care & Application
What substrates can you press DTF transfers onto?
DTF transfers have a wide range of applications and can be applied to many different types of materials.
Below are just some of the many examples:
- Custom Apparel: T-shirts, hoodies, hats, jerseys, etc.
- Promotional products: tote bags, hats, beverage cozies, etc.
- Works on cotton, polyester, blends, leather, wood, etc.
What are the wash instructions?
For best results, it is recommended to wash garments inside out, in cold water.
Dry on low-med heat or hang to dry.

system of Ink/film/powder or the Multicraft Digital Savy film/powder with Mimaki PHT50/60
inks. For Mimaki Ink users, customers will have a choice of the NuCoat Digitall Premium film with 5
kilo powder bags or Multicraft Digital Savvy film & 1 kilo powder bags.
As you know, your customers are closely monitoring the upcoming July 8th CPSC (Consumer
Product
Safety Commission) deadline. We want to ensure you are fully prepared to support their needs and
to help you leverage your compliance readiness as a competitive advantage to win additional
business.
What This Means:
A GCC (General Certificate of Conformity) certifies that products comply with all applicable U.S.
consumer product safety rules.
This applies to products for general consumers. You write it, sign it, and stand behind it. No agency
hands it to you — you earn it by verifying your product meets the standards set by the CPSC, the
U.S.
Consumer Product Safety Commission. It’s your documented proof that you know what’s in your
materials and that they’re legal and safe for market as they meet CPSIA Prop 65 testing standards.
A CPC (Children’s Product Certificate) is required for products primarily intended for children 12
years of age and under and confirms compliance with CPSIA Prop 65 testing standards through
independent third-party lab verification.
The CPC standard is higher — internal documentation isn’t enough. An independent, CPSC-
approved laboratory must verify your product before it ever reaches a child. Both certificates must be
available to retailers, distributors, and the CPSC upon request.
When you make or import a product sold to consumers in the United States, the government
expects you to prove it’s safe and meets the applicable rules. In decorated apparel and DTF
production, that proof comes in two forms — and understanding them is the foundation of a supply
chain you can stand behind.
In DTF, both come into play. Adult retail operate
s under GCC standards. Anything touching a
children’s brand or retailer steps into CPC territory, where third-party testing is non-negotiable.
This matters because the DTF supply chain is flooded with cheap, undocumented materials that
carry
real risk — to the people producing with them, to the brands whose names are on the finished
product, and to the end consumer. Someone always absorbs that risk. These certificates are how
responsible businesses make sure it isn’t quietly passed downstream.
Building toward GCC and CPC compliance isn’t about fear. It’s about confidence — knowing what’s
in your materials, doing the homework, and being able to stand behind what you put into the
market. In a space still finding its standards, that’s not just good practice. It’s a competitive
advantage.
These documents are not marketing pieces — they are formal compliance certifications tied to
regulatory requirements.
Why This Matters
Regulatory enforcement within decorated apparel and DTF production is increasing. Violations of
CPSIA and related safety standards can carry penalties of up to $2,500 per violation, and in some
cases significantly more depending on severity and intent.
In addition, third-party compliance auditors are actively reviewing decorated products in the
marketplace.

Where can I learn more about the electronic filing of imported children’s product certificates of compliance?
To learn more about being compliant, read this article.
What is a GCC or General Certificate of Conformity?
A GCC applies to general consumer products and certifies compliance with all applicable U.S. consumer product safety rules, including CPSIA testing standards. It’s a self-issued document: the manufacturer, importer, or private labeler verifies their own product meets the standards and signs their name to it. No outside agency issues it. It’s earned through internal diligence and stands as documented proof that a business knows what’s in its materials and that those materials are legal and safe for market.
What is a CPC or Children’s Product Certificate?
A CPC is required for products primarily intended for children age 12 and under. It carries a higher bar: compliance with CPSIA standards must be verified by an independent, CPSC-approved third-party laboratory before the product ever reaches a child. Internal documentation alone isn’t sufficient. Both GCCs and CPCs must be made available to retailers, distributors, and the CPSC upon request.
In DTF production, both certificates come into play depending on the end use: adult retail generally falls under GCC standards, while anything touching a children’s brand or retailer moves into CPC territory, where third-party testing is non-negotiable.
What does CPSC stand for?
The Consumer Product Safety Commission, or CPSC, is a United States federal regulatory agency that sets rules and safety standards for consumer products.
What is the new CPSC rule?
On January 8, 2025, the CPSC issued a Final Rule updating its regulations for Certificates of Compliance, aligning them with the agency’s broader testing and certification requirements and introducing electronic filing (eFiling) with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The rule applies to importers, domestic manufacturers, and private labelers who certify consumer products and substances regulated by the CPSC for import or distribution in the United States. This new ruling takes effect July 8, 2026.
How does the new CPSC rule affect DTF?
Regulatory enforcement in decorated apparel and DTF production is increasing, and third-party compliance auditors are actively reviewing products already in the marketplace. Violations of CPSIA and related safety standards can carry penalties of up to $2,500 per violation, with significantly higher penalties possible depending on severity and intent.
The DTF supply chain today includes a wide range of undocumented materials that carry real risk: to the people producing with them, to the brands whose names end up on the finished product, and to the end consumer. Businesses that apply DTF transfers to finished garments become the final producers of those decorated products, and final producers typically carry responsibility for ensuring the finished item meets CPSIA/CPSC requirements.
